My name is Angela Cummings and I am originally from Sussex. It has been my great pleasure to return to the area with my own family after many years away and join this wonderful community that I have missed so much. I trained as a Respiratory Therapist after obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Science, both at Dalhousie University. I was very fortunate to work at a small community hospital in Bridgewater, NS. It was at this hospital that my passion for sleep medicine was ignited. Treating respiratory illnesses is very rewarding. For me, helping with diagnosing and treating Obstructive Sleep Apnea is the most fulfilling aspects of my job as an RRT. I have seen the improvement that OSA sufferers have with CPAP therapy both professionally and personally since I have been on CPAP for years as well. It is possible to change someone’s life by changing the quality of their sleep. I truly believe that together we can improve life one night at a time!
After working in the Sleep Lab at South Shore Regional for many years, I realized that there was room for quality home care service in our small town. It was at this time that I started South Shore Sleep Solutions. After 7 years of providing service to the people and primary healthcare providers of the South Shore and learning more about sleep disorders every day, I was given the opportunity to come home to Sussex.
I provide free diagnostic at-home sleep testing and free trials of CPAP machines and masks as well. The physician will receive an independently interpreted Sleep report within 2 days of the sleep study. I try to remove as many barriers as possible that the client has to obtaining the rest that they need and deserve. I strive to provide community education about healthy sleep and sleep disorders. I will work with other healthcare professionals to help my clients obtain the best sleep they can whether that be with the free at-home sleep testing that I provide, CPAP therapy, or education about proper sleep hygiene.
